Hey everyone!

I'm using the wonderful Sony PTZ EVI D100 camera's for our live broadcasting system at our local radio station. I came across the new possibility in Vmix 17 to controll PTZ camera's within Vmix. I immediately became wild about this because today we are still controlling them with the infrared remote (trust me, you don't want to do that during live streaming). What i would like is to have our 3 camera's connected through VISCA (mini din 8 cable) and then wired to the pc. Does anyone know what kind of hardware Vmix 17 is gonna support to communicate in VISCA from the pc to the camera's? I searched PTZ optics website and the Vmix forums and blogs but couldn't find anything. So i turn to you!

Thanx in advance!

Greetings, Stan

Martin talks about the new PTZ features in the February monthly vMix show about 29:40 into it.

But the only Sony CGI PTZ was on the drop down.

The EVI D100 isn't an IP based camera, so you'd might need some kind of VISCA over IP interface. First you have to connect your EVI with a DIN to serial cable to your computer. Not many computers have serial ports any longer but you can get serial to USB interfaces. You'll have to daisy chain the 3 cameras to get them all connected for controlling them.

You might want to look at this software which can control up to 7 cameras via RS-232 daisy chaining.

It would be nice to have a standard low-cost module like the USR-TCP232-T to be able to convert a visca camera to a TCP-IP-control capable camera that is known to be supported by vmix.
At this point in time, some of us are already happy owners of PTZ camera's and wish to have them working with the vMix PTZ option.
Is this something Martin would like to invest some time on? I would be willing to invest my time on it to get the hardware part working for testing, to get vMix to support visca over a serial port for the PTZ control function.
Or might this maybe already work using the PTZ optics VISCA UDP device type?

Yeah .. Its will be great. I have too several ptz cams vith visca serial. And VMix dont support this right now.
Best way now to create tcp to serial bridge and send the Visca Command to Camera. Example i find one more order for this question on freelance https://www.freelancer.c.../VISCA-control-Over-TCP/
So the prablom is it. I hope the vMix can make something .. maybe we can help.. sony users tell you thanks!) Nobody can byu new ip cameras) .. but can give second life a old camers)

FYI

PTZOptics has Visca Control Software, but it's not cheap...

PTZOptics Visca Control Software/

or if some is good at programming could write some code with the following library

VISCA camera control library

How about the Sony SNC-RZ IP camera's?
They have a serial Visca connector, but also PTZ over IP.
I can't get them work with the vMIx PTZ control.

At our church, we use wireless Logitech Rumplepad for the PTZ VISCA control of three EVI 100s via RS 232.
The software we use is PTZ controller from serial Port Tool http://www.serialporttool.com/PTZ.htm
At $100.00 its a good buy and it handles many types of protocols.
This works well for us. Waiting to see if vMix will include VISCA control.

See Serial PTZ Feature Request

I found free VISCA serial software at D70 Commander
It says D70, but the basic visca commands (PTZ, positions 1 - 6) stay the same.
