Hello there,

I would like to record a backup of our Worship Services on an external DVD or VHS recorder using the external rendering feature.

I know Honestech doesn't work because someone mentioned it, but is it possible to record on VHS using an EasyCap card and connect it for External Output, I would later offload the video to the computer using a VHS to DVD converter.

Zach,

Unfortunately the EZCap device is a one-way thingy. It is "input only" to a PC.

How about using your VGA video port on your PC and converting that to composite (yellow RCA). Then pick up your audio from a speaker port and convert that (Red/White RCA).

I use one of these to convert HDMI to RCA composite.

So you want to use a USB port on your PC to output the video signal?

Or do you want to use a HDMI port on your PC to output the video signal?

My computer is a Windows Vista preloaded it's running Windows 10 now.

It doesn't have an HDMI output so my idea is to take one of the USB ports and act like I'm connecting a second monitor., will that work?

Not the first one. It is a display port to HDMI adapter. Good price though! As for the cable, have not tried it....

So, you have one USB2.0 port and you want to use it to output a video signal, right?

Okay, now that we have narrowed the question and can eliminate the USB3.0 solutions and the VGA/HDMI output solutions, we are left with the question.

How do you do USB2.0 video output?!?

I tested a USB2.0 video output device a few years ago and was not impressed. The frame rate was erratic when it worked. It was by Kensington: http://www.amazon.com/Ke...pter-Black/dp/B002F9NSMQ

I suspect that you are on a wild goose chase. The bottom line is... its time to upgrade your PC. Maybe a new video capture card that will give you a second video output option. Maybe a whole new PC with all the latest goodies.

If you elect to get a new video card, check the vMix specs for the video cards that allow vMix to use them as a Hardware Encoder. That will relieve some of the stress on your CPU.

Summary: For the price of a USB2.0 video output device you can buy a new video card and solve you problem AND upgrade your PC.

We have a Dell Laptop and its old.

We do not have the money to do any upgrades at this time.

We will have to wait until God blesses us a grant.

I've never tried it, and have no idea how well or if it will work (audio will likely have to be patched in separately), but considering your current predicament with an older laptop and no budget to upgrade just yet, it looks like the most affordable option to try.

Trust me. You will make it work! Just plug into the USB port and connect an external monitor via HDMI or DVI or VGA....You won't even need to install drivers if your Laptop is Win 8 or later.
