Receiving a vMix error when trying to stream two low resolution streams to Dacast using vMix Streaming set to FMLE.

Resolutions and bit rates match: vMix vs. Dacast.

See attachments for screen shots.

Ideas?

Tom

Tom,

What happens when you set it to FFMPEG? I was just testing and got two Dacast streams to work using FFMPEG.

Depending on how things are configured on the Dacast end, they may not send through the stream key necessary for multi bit rate by logging in through vMix.
To fix this after logging in change the Destination to Custom RTMP Server which will reveal the URL and Stream Key they have provided.

The stream key should be something like dclive_1_1@123456 which should be changed to dclive_1_%i@123456

Thanks, Martin. I think we're getting close.

My Stream Name or Key is XXXXX7?w1Z8atu1PgO9ZxJu (where the X's are numerals).

What would I change?

Doesn't look like a multi bitrate capable key, may need to contact dacast to see why it is different?

I could not get multiple bitrate streams (more than 1) going with the app set to FFMPEG. I did set it up with those parameters, but got errors. Got unknown server errors. Upon changing to FMLE it seems to work with the log showing 3 streams.

Im trying to send up a 350K, 800K, and a 1.4M stream. Dacast says that client players should grab which ever one they can use....

None of the tutorials I have seen seem to work. The stream key is very strange as I have seen 3 different posts of what it is - I am using the dclive_1_%i@ format.

Any info is helpful. Thanks

My question is why would you send DaCast three streams when they can recognize as your CDN what device your viewer is using an deliver to them accordingly.

thats not what they told me today! They said to have multiple bit rates, set them up on their encoder page, and assign the 3 on the encoder. "to do multi-bitrates, you need to use the “Custom RTMP Server" - their page.

In fact, at the moment, the stream viewer does not show the 3 bitrates, but all say 720P - they're working on that!

I seem to be sending three bitrates too...

they said they would be coming out with live transcoding "soon".

as an update to this:

after 12+ hours operating as expected (and as earlier described), the server stopped.

I was able to restore the streams (encodes) by going back to FFMPEG mode, using "custom RTMP server" with my rtmp entry point address, then setting/selecting all three streams (bit rates), using the nomenclature dclive_1_1@xxxxxx, dclive_1_2@xxxxxx, dclive_1_3@xxxxxx (NOT dclive_1_%i@xxxxxx), and logging in to my account for EACH instance (of the 3).

Dacast says they are working on the "gear" issue of the player still showing 720p instead of the respective rates....

Thanks
