It would perhaps be a good idea the check that all the Settings are properly documented in the help.
For example, I just found that for Settings/Performance Graphics Adapter, Enable FlipEx on Full screen, and Memory Lock are undocumented. Of which I am curious about the two latter ;)

Thanks,

Since 16.0.0.106 I have been having issues with the FFMPEG encoder for streaming. After about 10min of broadcast we start to get a RTSP Real time buffer full error. I have since switched to FMLE but really would like to deliver 2 streams like I had been with FFMPEG. Our setup has one stream going to ScaleEngine and one to our local Wowza instance for backup. Has anyone else had this issue and if so how can we fix it?

v16.0.0.108 Since upgrading I have been getting this error "Unhandled exception" on starting vMix on a win10 64bit install. Latest Windows build. Full error text below. If I quit the error message vMix will start normally next time. Any ideas?

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

So far we have been using 16.0.0.92 on our production machines. But when we tried upgrading to .108 we noticed some strange behavior when Fullscreen is turned on. Unfortunately I do not have the intermediate versions, so I can not pin point where this issue emerged.

The problem is that the preview and fullscreen videos stutters (like instead of 50 fps it looks like say 20 fps) when Fullscreen is set on. The recording and stream looks fine. We are running Win 8.1 (updated) on a powerful desktop with a GTX 760 card (updated driver), and have had no problem like this earlier.

I'v tried setting Windows' monitor's (we use three) refresh rates to 60 Hz, 50 Hz, and all kinds of combinations. Nothing helps.

Please let me know how I can help to get this sorted out.

Thanks.

richardgatarski,

I am using a Asus GTX760 card with the latest drivers with vMix 108 and 3 monitors, but I am using windows 7.

I have tried to reproduce your problem using full screen but I am not getting them.

A couple of things to ask you:
what motherboard do you have? as I am using a Asus motherboard and it has a programme that controls the speed of the processor and the CPU, it is called EPU-6 Engine, when I have the EPU-6 Engine set to Auto vMix is very sluggish but when I set it to high performance vMix works great and videos run smoothly.

the other thing is are you using the ASUS GPU Tweak app that comes with the GTX760 to control the card? that can make a difference as it controls the speed of the card.

@Len56,
Thanks for looking into this, but I am pretty sure it has to do with changes in vMix. In .104 Martin introduced a couple of things I suspect might interfere here:
* Performance improvement and reduction in render time when displaying more than 8 inputs on screen at the same time.
* Two new Chroma Key anti aliasing options added. (Medium and High) (Need at least NVIDIA 950 or higher for best results)

As for your question, I am useing the Asus P9X79 WS. And no, I don't think I am using the ASUS GPU Tweak app (can check later). Also, our main monitor (for vMix) is 1920x1080, and the two used for fullscreen are 1280x720.

Oh okay,

I am using 3 1920 x 1080 monitors, and you would know if you were using the ASUS GPU Tweak app as you would have an shortcut icon on your desktop.

Hi Richard,

Have you tried resetting vMix to the default settings?
Maybe some setting change from a while ago is interfering somehow?

Regards,

Martin

Good day. And sorry for my english.
Can somebody tell me, is Vmix16 work with encoder Teradec cube series correctly, or there may be problems with this equipment?
Thanks

If you are planning to use Teradec attached to a camera as a source in vMix:
Teradec encoders are just that, encoders, you would still need a RTMP server somewhere that woudld bridge vMix and the Teradec together.

If you are planning to output from vMix to Teradec for encoding to web:
Teradec encodes any HDMI source, so software capabilities don't really come into play, so long as you can dedicate one of your PC's HDMI outs for stream use and set up vMix to output to the proper adapter then it will work fine.

The Terradec Cube is supported by vMix. If you have a single Cube (transmitter) you can bring it in via your IP network or via HDMI. On the network there is a slight delay (on my system) of 3-4 frames) on the low latency settings.

If you have a pair (transmitter/reciever) you bring it in as a normal input source viz HDMI. Again very low latency.

As mentioned above you can also use the Cube as you streaming/encoder in which case you take the output of your PC via HDMI into the Cube and have the Cube handle the processing and transmission of the signal to your CDN. To my mind however, that is an expensive way to go as vMix is very efficient as a streamer/encoder.

* Removed "FlipEx" performance mode for input previews.
Compared to previous versions, it reduced render times, especially when using 50p frame rates and higher.
Unfortunately it can also cause the Windows Desktop Window Manager to use large amounts of CPU and lock up temporarily when scrolling
the inputs window, so it has been disabled until a better solution can be found for vMix 17.

To begin with, I am a little bit confused after reading the info. I do not understand what has been changed, it is still possible to check FlipEx for Fullscreen and Previews in the performance settings. And I do actually not know what FlipEx is (other users don't know either, and I have pointed out earlier it is not documented in help).

But I think something good came out of this. FlipEx might have been the cause of my stuttering problems for Fullscreen. In vMix 16.0.0.114 I disabled FlipEx for Fullscreen, and at least some early tests suggest that FlipEx was causing the stuttering.

Possible "BUG" with vMix 16.0.0.114 and animated XAML titles.

I came across this in testing kayllastudio's recent sample contribution:

http://forums.vmix.com/d....aspx?g=posts&t=5664

I am not sure if this is isolated to my system or is related to a recent update to Windows 10 or simply a BUG, but none of the animated XAML titles I have tested (including the vMix lower thirds standard ones) are behaving "properly" when activated, either fullscreen or as a DSK Overlay (buttons 1,2,3,4). They do not animate "IN" automatically, but rather need to be "played" manually, otherwise, there is no visual until you remove the "Overlay" and the image appears and animates out appropriately.
The odd thing is, they will animate "IN" properly when used within the 'MultiView' feature, only there is no way to trigger an animate "OUT" from there that I am aware of (perhaps a feature request is in order for that).

I can confirm AnimatedInOutHD.xaml (one of the built in titles) is working correctly with both in and out animations with the overlays in 16.0.0.114.

Check the "Automatically play with Transition" tickbox is ticked in the input settings.
If it isn't maybe the master setting under Settings -> Options has been turned off?
thanks 1 user thanked admin for this useful post.

As a general rule, the Performance settings are designed primarily for troubleshooting which is why many are not documented.
(Intended only for us to try and narrow down problems that come up during tech support).

The reason being the defaults almost always offer the best performance for the majority of uses
and in my experience tinkering with these settings can often make things worse.

In the case of FlipEx, its function is quite technical so the oversimplified explanation
is that it allows vMix to keep a small queue of video frames that Windows can pull from to display on screen.
This allows smoother video at 50 and 60 frames per second, where in the past you had to try and get the timing exactly
right to avoid dropped frames.

vMix can also submit a finished frame into the queue and move on straight away without waiting for a frame to be displayed on screen
hence why it also allows for reduced render times.

Enable FlipEX on Fullscreen
vMix has used FlipEx a long time now on Fullscreen and it works great most of the time.

Enable FlipEX on Previews
In the past few updates it has also been enabled for the main vMix interface on both the Preview and Output windows
and also the Input previews.

Problem is, having too many FlipEx boxes in a single window causes some problems on some systems.
Particularly having a large number of Inputs and then scrolling them will cause DWM to use up a lot of CPU.

So finally, in 114 the Enable FlipEX on Previews box will only enable it on the Preview and Output windows since they don't
use scrolling. The input previews work just like earlier versions of vMix 16 and earlier.

vMix 17

A whole new method of rendering the input previews is being added to vMix 17. This solves the scrolling problem
while simultaneously providing the smooth video benefits of FlipEx.

Yup, that seemed to cure it!

(I thought I had tried that earlier with each individual input to no avail, but now that it is ticked both there and in master settings all seems well, the question is why did it change when updating to the latest version?)

Thanks Martin, you are the best, I am still thinking about putting in a feature request about a transition or animate "OUT" button or trigger within a 'MultiView' overlay.

Does this mean that the fullscreen output has some latency when FlipEx on fullscreen is enabled?

For all frame rates under 60p it should actually have equal or even lower latency in FlipEx mode.
The exception is 60p which allows for an extra frame (+16ms) to ensure smooth video.

I did spend almost a day in total trying to isolate what caused the stuttering issues I had (reported above), including starting with a clean setting and preset. We did not have to problem, somehow it appeared a couple of months ago. I understand that the complexity of Windows, graphics drivers, display devices, and you name it makes it hard to maintain everything full proof all the time. In fact, I am impressed by how well vMix works, develops, and maintain stability.
Last Friday i simply disabled FlipEx on Fullscreen - and the stuttering went away totally during a full hour production. I will continue to experiment turning it on and off. But in my book, at least on this PC FlipEx cases stuttering.
Note again, the stuttering only appears (intermettently) on vMix's Preview and Output windows, not in the recording or in the stream. I still have to see if I get the same issue on other PCs.

OK. May I humbly suggest you make a note of that in the Help and in the Settings tab. Perhaps also make a separate section clearly marked as "Debug specific" or something similar.

Thanks.

I updated to 16.0.0114, and did a 4 hour recording....It turned out to be a disaster....I had about 257 frames dropped, and my audio is so badly out of sync, I do not know what to do....It started well, and for some reason I saw the video stuck, and then started again...I did not want to stop recording and restart, because I did not want to lose any audio, I said I can easily cover with a cut away from somewhere else in the recording,as I do from time to time....This is not possible with this recording, the sync is so bad, that even though I got it resync near where it froze, about 10 mins. later it is out of sync again.....it only came back in sync 15 mins or so from the end of the recording.....I did not change anything on the PC, just updated ti .114.......
